Track Name: Sold For Fire
Evening snow gave to the fallen
Sleep below nameless the calling
Mother knows rest of the Golden
Idol goes west to his burning home

Morning cold breaks like the weeping
Lover chose last for the leaving
Army told honor is keeping
Father's soul high on his bleeding throne

Oh lady I sold thee for fire

Mistress grows roses for Abel
Gone alone last to the table
Sons of Rome long for the day they'll
Call their own blameless and ever whole

Sister sows seeds of desire
Picture shows needs to the buyers
Mister holds promise of liars
Flag unfolds lovers for hire pose

Oh lady I sold thee for fire
Track Name: Rain Child
Mama let it fall and again let it fall
Mama let it fall and again let it fall to me
Or so the story goes

Papa hit the wall so again to the wall
Papa hit the wall so again to the wall on his knees
Or so the story goes

They took to their feet and I believe I saw them leave
saying “Tell me boy now how’s it going to be?”
They stood on a cliff and I believe I saw them kiss
Before the wave came up and swallowed them to sea

Brother keeping all but not to be more
Brother keeping all but not to be more than the show
or so the story goes

Sister breathing deep, no she’s not going to leave
Sister breathing deep, no she’s not going to leave for the boats
Or so the story goes

They hold to the land sing hymns and wringing hands
Singing “tell me God now how we supposed to go?”
You told me your plans shattered limbs and neighbor band
Giving hell to all been running from the hope.
Track Name: Zeke Age Six
I love my dog he's soft
I love my music box
I love my birthday cake
I love my holidays
I love pink pajamas
I love nice koalas
I love ice cream sundays
I love my friend's play dates

Sit on the floor boys and girls in a circle when I call
Call your name you'll explain anything in this world that
Makes you sing makes smile makes you happy to be living

Zeke you've been quite quiet
Why don't you try it?
It's good to share feelings
Go on and share we're listening
So Zeke age six tries his best
To hold his eye contact
And tries not to laugh out loud
Clears his throat forces it down
And he says...

I think I've been a little tense
It's been a while since I've slept
But now the drugs are kicking in
So after recess I'll be listening
Focusing on class discussions
Noticing what's been above us
Holding what we know disgusts us
Floating with you fucking lifeless
What to do with what we're given
How to love when all needs saving
What to do with old religion
Use what's new but don't be giving in
The ice is melting fast
While monkeys in suits drink and dance
Throwing shit and threatening
To press the button ease the itch

Sit on the floor boys and girls in a circle when I call
Call your name you'll explain anything in this world that
Makes you sing makes smile makes you happy to be living

Zeke you watch your mouth
Or I swear I'll call your mother
If you don't feel well dear
You should lie down I'll call the nurse

I'm not sick you stupid teachers
I'm just sick of your excuses
I'm just six but I know it's useless
When generations worked to screw us
And prescriptions all you think we need
You sat me down with MTV
And shocked to see my ADHD
People in this world are bleeding
Listen now your time is running out
Hear me trying hard to shout
But something stops it in my mouth
Your pills have gone and killed this sound

What was I saying?

I love my dog he's soft
I love my music box
I love my birthday cake
I love my holidays
I love pink pajamas
I love nice koalas
I love ice cream sundays
I love my friend's play dates

Sit on the floor boys and girls in a circle when I call
Call your name you'll explain anything in this world that
Makes you sing makes smile makes you happy to be living
Aren't you happy to be living?
Why aren't you happy to be living?
Say your happy

I'm just happy.
Track Name: Dog Wood Run
I met a man
Who was nobody's son
Looked like a healer
But he talked like a gun
I killed that man
Justice just to see it done
He fell like a savior
And he cursed me to the Dog Wood Run

I loved me a goddess
Dressed only in rain
She gave me three daughters
I gave her my name
She said "yea, you can give all you want to
But it's never going to be the same"
Then she stormed and drowned my speaking
And she washed away my shame

I came across a lost dog
Dying of thirst
Led him to water
And he asked what it was worth
I said "no, keep your bones, Dog
'Cause lord knows you ain't been the first"
...That doggie growled...
"I'm going to find the bitch who loved me
If I gotta walk this whole damn earth."

I broke into Eden
To kill me a snake
'Cause my babies are teething
And like hell they're going to taste
I caught that serpent sleeping
He said, "son you're making a mistake!
You see, your Adam's never missed me
Because I was born right here between his legs"

I gamble with preachers
'Cause a saint's never won
I play with believers
'Cause they never call my bluff
Except for just this once
When I bet my father's love
It cost me all my reason
Now here I'm doing time on the Dog Wood Run
Track Name: A Girl Named Joy
So the river you started for
the river you plot the course
Ainʼt the river you know
So the coming youʼre waiting for
Hoping and praying for
donʼt look like home

Sold but is it gone?

So the ladies all laid in stone
The poets trade word for guns
and they take to the road
So Babyʼs all left alone
singing her angel songs
To the ghosts of dawn

Sold but are you gone?

Boy youʼre burning out in the square
look at you standing there
does she look like she should?
he sayʼs “Hope, Iʼm losing without a care,
Iʼve done and gone up the stairs
quit the city for good”

Sold but is it gone?

Joy, sheʼs wearing her mamaʼs pearls
Daring the boys and girls
on past the wall
She says “oh, itʼs waking up all the world”
I said, “I guess Iʼll be calling toward east after all”

Sold but are you gone?
Track Name: Running
Spring she saw me coming full of God and loving
Every fool got thrown my way
She heard my song and she sang along
And we rode another lie down

Summer you could see us dancing with believers
Blind to all our hells to pay
In time we're blessed left us to guess
But you could've stoned your lover by now

Should we carve our names on the day?
Baby just don't be late for your train

I'm running for the coast
Running for the ghost of moving on
Are we moving on?

Autumn bells are ringing everybody singing
Drowning out the words we say
Riot sons found papa's guns
And you lay your brothers' lives down

Winter keeping moving stay ahead of losing
Living like we better know how
But our love is warmth we made through the war
And from ash the baby been born

Mama give and mama take
Living on the bridge been built to break

She's running for the coast
Running for the ghost of moving on
Are we moving on?
We're running for the coast
Running for the ghosts of moving on
Are we moving on?
Track Name: Gone is Going
Gone is going but you can’t stop winning
So we’re going to war with your church bells ringing freedom
Time is money from our home towns thinking ‘bout the
Lord Lord Lord

You’re scared the Devil going to steal your briefcase
Hands for cuffing coming up United States of mind
It’s a new time keeping with your
Lord Lord Lord

You stoned another but you can defend it
Lost your mother but you earned your paycheck
Founding Fathers when’d you turn your backs on the
Lord Lord Lord

We burned our bridges going West to East
and turned our image into what we believe
Love the neighbor put your trust in peace, in the
Lord Lord Lord
Track Name: Our Home
You turned to face our home
Child you're the only one of you
Your brother's withered hung
Your sister's burning in the sun

We cannot offer much
But take whatever you can touch
There's three and then there's one
There's you and there's every one of us

We know you ain't here for long
But our home is your own
We know we ain't here for long
But our home is your own

There's water in your glass
The summer sighing at your back
She's breathing out her last
It's on your watch that she is passing on

Creature of the womb
You're blessing all we in your bloom
If Lazarus was moved
I'm sure it's when he reached for you

Low and behold

We know you ain't here for long
But our home is your own
We know we ain't here for long
But our home is your own

It's true I cut you down
Took you willing from the ground
You came without a sound
And took the drink we saved from the fountain
Track Name: Lady Lake
It’s been a long day, love
Here now lay you down
Make you no mistake, love
You’ve been breaking ground
You come a long way, child
Been out on your own
Did you hear me pray, child
That I’d find you home?

Low, our Lady Lake
Look how long, mama, look how long we stayed

You took the lonely way out
Tore out on a line
I’m hiding at the playhouse
You’re going to have to find
They promised you a kingdom
You promised them a bride
We lost an honest race, man
You can keep your pride

That blowing Michigan
Look how long, darling, look how long it’s been

A stop along the way to
Just about anywhere
This is why they pay you
Singing on the stair
Sleeping in the morning
Working in the day
Drinking in the evening
At dawn laying graves

Low, our Lady Lake
Look how long, mama, look how long we stayed
Blowing Michigan
Look how long, darling, look how long it’s been

It’s been a long day, love
In this taken town
I dreamed last night you rained down
And I woke to sounds
Of Lady’s waves come crashing
Putting out our flames
In the streets we’re dancing
And naming saints

Low, our Lady Lake
Look how long, mama, look how long we stayed
Blowing Michigan
Look how long, darling, look how long it’s been
Track Name: Gone Not Sorry
His lover had died just three days before
When Stephen came riding alone on his horse
Bullet wound shoulder, near bled out of luck
The time come for Stephen to give or give up

You see the gun that had fallen the girl at his side
That angel of mercy that had been his bride
It belonged to that villain by the name of Sam Lye
Now Stephen done killing but one more had to die

The streets were deserted, save a lonesome white cat
And though our windows were boarded we peered through the cracks
When Stephen came riding I prayed for his life
For the paths of his bullets and for the soul of his wife
I prayed for swift wings on which justice to fly
And I prayed for the death of that old bastard Lye

The afternoon passed with no sign of that dog
And our Stephen stood ready with his six-shooter cocked
Finally the sun hung low in the sky
And from outside our windows we could hear Stephen sigh

The shadows were long, Sam Lye hadn’t shown
Stephen holstered his weapon and he started for home
And as his back turned to South a gunshot rang out
Our good Stephen stumbled, and he hard hit the ground

Sam Lye blew smoke barrel and he let out a laugh
He said, “It’s the Devil’s own punchline to shoot a man in the back.”
I sobbed as that villain kicked dust on the corpse
And as he stalked from the scene I ran from the door
I reached Stephen’s gun just as the sun set
I pulled back the trigger and I shot Sam Lye dead

That was the first and the last man that I killed
There ain’t a day goes by that I wish blood wasn’t spilled
You see, vengeance, she ain’t the loving man’s tool
But someone had to kill that murdering fool

I’m gone not sorry
For the damage been done
I’m gone not sorry
For the bleeding of our sons
I’m gone not sorry
For the voices of our guns
I’m gone not sorry
For the victims of our love
